Web cams, digital cameras, and even cell phones often have video recording features—many digital cameras even have a simple switch to choose between stills and video. Cameras (camcorders): Digital & Analog You may already have a digital camcorder, that captures in Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, or any of the DVD formats. If so, then probably got sufficient equipment for shooting. You will need some kind of direct connection to your computer. If your camcorder is digital, it will have USB and/or FireWire ports or by inserting the DVD you've recorded. After transferring the video from the camera, you can upload it directly to YouTube or import it into a video editing program such as Windows MovieMaker or Apple's iMovie to cut and/or rearrange what you've shot. If your camcorder is analog; recording media is VHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm, or Hi8 tape, you can still get your videos onto YouTube. You will need some additional equipment, since analog camcorders are not usually equipped with computer connections. You will need to digitize the video with a video capture board on your computer, or a converter box. Either of these will use the analog signal from the camcorder to a digital signal that the computer can work with. After your video material has been captured to digital format, you can edit it further as explained above or upload it. |
